Misc is the free toolbox that ships with every BIMIO licence: 28 tools on one Revit panel, and a hub you search by typing. Measuring, renaming, tagging along a path, auditing groups, authoring fill patterns, sweeping the model clean. Every tool writes in a single named transaction, and every one tells you first whether it touches your model.

Why Misc exists

The hundred small jobs nobody writes an app for.

Every Revit day has a dozen two-minute chores — measure that, renumber those, find which sheet hosts this view, purge what nobody uses. Individually none justifies an add-in; together they eat the afternoon.

Without Misc
  • A different free add-in per chore, each with its own installer and ribbon tab.
  • Twenty buttons you can't name, so you use three.
  • No way to know whether a tool is about to change your model until it has.
  • The tool you need is the one whose name you can't remember.
With the toolbox
  • One panel, 28 tools, grouped the way the work is grouped.
  • Type what you want — in English or Spanish, misspelled, or by the tool's old name.
  • An amber or green dot on every tool: modifies the model, or read-only.
  • One named transaction per gesture, so one Ctrl+Z is always enough.

The Misc button opens a hub with a search box and every tool in it, grouped into the sections the work falls into. It matches on more than names — each tool carries the words people really use, in English and Spanish, misspelled, abbreviated, and under the names of the tools it absorbed. Type “cotas” and Along Path appears; type “impacto” and IDs does. Try it: this is the real catalogue.

Every tool below, with its own window drawn as it really is — its tabs, its lists, its buttons. Both come from the app itself: the catalogue from the registry that builds the panel in Revit, the windows from each tool's own interface. A green dot reads your model; an amber one changes it.

One window for the whole suite: a health header (score, sync cadence, insights from the shared project store) plus a tile per app — schedules pending sync, tables needing refresh, open clashes, standards violations, review progress — each with an Open button. Where Lens reads the selected element, this reads the whole project; export the shareable HTML report from the window, and nothing leaves this machine.

PROJECTS
Every model gets a colour on its own, worked out from the model itself — nothing to set up. Click a swatch to choose another one; that choice is remembered between sessions and follows the model even if it is moved or renamed.

Every so often a small card slides up at the bottom of the drawing area — a pun, a line from Seneca or Grace Hopper, what happened on this day in 1889 — and then it goes away by itself. Your clicks pass straight through it, and nothing repeats until the whole deck has been through.

Watches the folders that matter — deliveries, links, a Desktop Connector path — and tells you what was added, changed, renamed or deleted since you last looked, both live while you work and as a summary when you open the model. It doubles as an explorer inside Revit: double-click anything to reveal it in Windows, and the watched paths belong to the project and can be sealed into the model so the other models find them too.

Tool noise is ignored out of the box: .rvt.0001, ~$…, .bak and the rest. The model's own folder is added on every open — remove it and it stays removed. The change history is kept for one year, then the oldest entries are dropped.

SYNC propagates a reference view's annotation to the views you pair with it and keeps it LIVE — tags, room tags, dimensions, text and detail items; it checks before it writes, one line per view saying what is missing, what has drifted, what somebody drew by hand outside the sync, and what is left over. DIMENSIONS freezes dimensions onto invisible lines so they always place, at the price of going static, and LINKS records what your tags point at inside a linked model, so the consultant's next issue does not cost you a day.

Stencil keeps annotation the same across views. Three tabs, three different jobs — pick by what you want to happen next.Stencil signs everything it places, on the annotation itself. A fill pattern is one tile, repeated
Everything else follows from that — including why some angles cannot be drawn exactly.
1 · Draw one tile
Draw a RECTANGLE for the repeat, and inside it the lines you want. Revit then tiles that rectangle edge to edge, for ever. So you never draw the whole hatch — only the smallest piece that repeats.
2 · Why some angles get bent
Revit does not store your lines. It stores, per direction, a lattice: a start point, an angle, the gap to the next line and the dash run. A direction only works if it lands back exactly on the tile's own grid after a whole number of tiles.Left: the line reaches a tile corner, so it repeats — exact. Right: it lands mid-edge and never closes, so it gets snapped.
You do not have to accept a bent angle
The maths runs backwards: for ANY angle there is a tile that makes it exact. The Diagonal hatch and Cross hatch presets do that calculation for you, so 30° comes out as 30.000° and not 26.57°.
3 · Model or drafting?
MODEL patterns are measured in real units and scale with the view — brickwork stays 215 mm whether you are at 1:20 or 1:200. DRAFTING patterns are measured on paper and never change on the sheet.
4 · What cannot be done, honestly
Straight lines only. An arc or a spline has no single direction, so it cannot be a lattice — arcs in your selection are counted and skipped rather than quietly turned into a fan of little segments.
5 · Re-running is editing
Create with a name that already exists and that pattern is UPDATED, not duplicated — so tuning a preset and pressing Create again refines the same pattern, and everything already using it follows.

Merge regionsPick two or more regions; they come back as one. The result keeps the type, the boundary line style and the instance parameters of the FIRST region you pick. Regions that do not touch stay as separate pieces — none is thrown away.Split with a linePick the regions, then pick one or more straight lines. Every piece the cut produces is kept. Revit has no 2D boolean, so every shape here is rebuilt through the 3D kernel. Boundaries come back with an extra vertex wherever two originals met, and the rebuilt region is a NEW element with a new id.

Revit has no equivalent: changing Base Constraint in the Properties palette always moves the wall. Here the absolute elevation is the invariant — the offset is recomputed against the new level so the geometry does not budge, and every wall is re-measured afterwards.
